Annie Mar

is an illustrator based in Cork, Ireland

As well as commissioned work, Annie facilitates workshops and has her own artistic practice. She collaborates regularly with animator Aaron Ross on a diverse range of projects, always with an ecological focus. They have just wrapped up on a three part animation series for the Irish Parks and Wildlife Service on Irish peatlands.

These animation projects, combined with the everyday pressures we are living through, feed directly into Annie's personal practice, where you will find fire, fury and fantasy. Her drawing focuses on everyday preoccupations rendered through a dreamlike lens, executed with paints and pencils. Feelings of burden, struggle, magic and panic are common in the work. Annie's process is enriched by the daily action of visual diarykeeping, with apocalyptic themes weaving throughout.

A devoted zinester, Annie curates Cork Zine Fest every year with three other passionate zine enthusiasts. She shares a studio at the Living Commons in Cork City.
